Work is beginning on a $32 million concrete pavement restoration project on I-80/94 between the state line and Cline Avenue. The Indiana Department of Transportation says prep work will be taking place on the shoulders until next Wednesday. Between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., crews will clean the shoulders and repair storm drains to prepare for shifted traffic.

Next, overnight lane closures are scheduled in the westbound lanes May 12 through 15, followed by the eastbound lanes May 19 through 22. After that, traffic will be shifted away from the left lanes and shoulders, with the right shoulders being used as travel lanes, while crews conduct patching work and build crossovers for future phases of construction.

Once construction begins, INDOT says work will take place 24 hours a day, six or seven days a week. Major work is scheduled to wrap up late this year, with a contract completion date in May 2023.
