A Gary middle school is being recognized for its efforts in teaching science, technology, engineering and math. Bailly STEM Academy is now officially a STEM Certified School.
It was one of 15 newly-certified schools announced by the Indiana Department of Education Monday, pushing the state's total over 100. STEM Certified schools use inquiry- and project-based learning, along with out-of-school STEM activities.
Other local STEM Certified schools include all of Hobart's public schools, as well as Lake Hills Elementary School in Michigan City and Crichfield Elementary School near LaPorte.
