On the Radar: Martin Navejas Talks Heartbreak with Sarah Opat

Photographer Martin Navejas talks with Lakeshore's Sarah Opat "On the Radar" about his recent solo exhibition at CHESS Art Gallery in Hammond, Indiana.

Navejas shoots models in their purest form. He shoots naked models with the intention of portraying human emotion. Navejas explores the human cycle of emotion through each model and landscape.

The exhibit Talking Body II was inspired by the darker sides of human emotion. In the radio interview Navejas talked about how heartbreak has transformed into art. His solo exhibit Talking Body II is up on display for the month of November.

"Moving past the pain has helped me create beautiful works of art," said Navejas.

Stop by to check out the gallery and see Talking Body II for yourself.

CHESS Gallery's hours are Tuesday through Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday noon-6pm.

Frida's Cafe is also next door, so bring your appetite for art and cinnamon/brown sugar flavored coffee called cafe de oja. Navejas previously owned a studio space located at White Ripple Gallery above Frida's Cafe and Chess Art Gallery on Kennedy Avenue in Hammond, Indiana.
