Indiana Brownfields Coalition

Today:   Kay Nelson with the Northwest Indiana Forum joins us in the studio  to talk about Wednesday's NWI Forum and NIRPC co-sponsored brownfield redevelopment education panel discussion, to be held in Portage.  Brownfields are defined as former industrial or commercial sites where future use is affected by real or perceived environmental contamination,  Northwest Indiana has a multitude of them -- but many have great redevelopment potential, if the problems can be resolved.

Green Sense Farms in Portage ia in the process of being converted from just a farm to a full-fledged research and development facility. We talked to the CEO and Founding Farmer, Robert Coangelo, about it.

Ragan Hatcher and Jessica Renslow are seeking the Democratic Party nomination for the Indiana House District 3 seat being vacated by the retiring Rep. Charlie Brown.  Ms. Hatcher is with us today to talk about her candidacy and the issues that she sees ahead.  Hatcher and Renslow will meet on Wednesday evening at a League of Women Voters-co-sponsored debate at Temple Israel in Gary's Miller neighborhood.  Lakeshore Public Radio will broadcast it live, beginning at 6PM.

And Lakeshore Public Radio's Sharon Jackson spoke with U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirsch on Friday about the grand jury indictment filed against former Lake County Sheriff's Department Deputy Chief Dan Murchek.
