Marijuana Study.png
A state legislative study committee will look into the potential health benefits of THC products like marijuana, Delta 8 and Delta 9, and its recommendations could lead to bills in the 2023 General Assembly session. Former state Senator Karen Tallian and current Senator Rodney Pol, Jr. talk about the issues and offer a look into the upcoming study committee session.

Today: Former state Senator Karen Tallian and current Senator Rodney Pol, Jr. are on "Regionally Speaking" to talk about a summer General Assembly study committee which will look into the potential health benefits of THC products, including marijuana, Delta 8 and Delta 9. It isn't known, however, if they will examine decriminalizing marijuana. Both Tallian and Pol discuss that point, since legislative leaders sent the issue to a study committee on public health, behavorial health and human services. The study committee recommendations are advisory only, but those recommendations are considered serious enough from which to create bills. We also revisit a conversation with Scott Pelath, executive director of the Kankakee River Basin and Yellow River Basin Development Commission, on its work to support the cleanup and maintenance of the rivers, which flow along southern Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties. We also have local reaction and commentary to the Uvalde, Texas school shooting from Laura Wynn, who founded Indiana Parenting Institute. She also has some tips to help parents support children as well as process the state of emotional health for our youth today.
