Four Midwestern states have infant mortality rates “significantly higher” than the U.S. average, a new report from the Centers for Disease Control says.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL - Just as awesome and talented as ever it was a blonde Alanis Morissette who hit the Ravinia stage August 25th at 8:25 p.m., wearing a flowy top and delivering an 18 song setlist including the encore.  The opening song was "Forgiven." The finale was "Thank You," in the set that included her 90s hits, which brought everyone to their feet,  hits like "Head Over Feet," "You Outta Know," "You Learn," "Hand in My Pocket"  and "Ironic."  The 43-year-old greeted the crowd before song #3 saying she missed them terribly.

There are jobs to be landed in Northwest Indiana.  That was proven recently at the Hammond Job Fair.  About one thousand prospective employees attended the event Thursday March 9th at the Hammond Civic Center.  Africa Tarver, Director of Economic Development with the city of Hammond says 84 companies were at the fair ready to talk to candidates.   She also says the event has experienced huge growth since Hammond's first job fair 14 years ago.  Tarver says she thinks the event is an important vehicle that addresses the hiring needs of Hammond and the surrounding communities and in that it g
