The Indiana House and Senate are making changes to the way they conduct business for the 2021 legislative session – one everyone agrees will be “unique.”

The Indiana House made changes Thursday to legislation that raises the smoking and vaping age to 21 years old, which includes an effort to address recent deaths from vaping.

The Indiana House approved a surplus spending bill Monday. It now goes to the Senate.

Indiana House and Senate Republican leadership want to insert themselves into a federal lawsuit against Attorney General Curtis Hill and the state.

Braun To Resign State House Seat Amid U.S. Senate Run

Rep. Mike Braun (R-Jasper) will leave one elected office as he runs for another.

Braun announced Friday he will resign the seat in the Indiana House he’s held for three years as he vies for U.S. Senate.

Braun jumped into the Senate GOP primary in August. A wealthy business owner from Jasper, he poured $800,000 of his own money into his campaign in the last fundraising quarter.

Braun says he looks forward to serving Hoosiers in a different capacity as he steps down from his House seat. His resignation takes effect Nov. 1.

GOP Leaders Unveil Final Road Funding Package Details

Republican legislative leaders unveiled what Speaker Brian Bosma calls the “best infrastructure program” in state history.

GOP leaders say the funding package they’ve put together will eventually generate about $1.2 billion a year for state and local roads. Senate President Pro Tem David Long (R-Fort Wayne) says that plan will last the next two decades.

“We’re not kicking the can down the road like they do in Washington,” Long says.
