Today:   The supervisor and alternative initiative director of the Lake County Juvenile Probation Department, Kevin Elkins, is on the program to talk about the change in focus that will better prepare  young people on probation for adulthood -- programs like job training.

Today:  Indiana Humanities staffmember Megan Telligman joins us to talk about the speakers who will be coming into northwest Indiana over the next few months, as part of the "INseparable" initiative.  The speakers will help residents better understand and talk about urban, suburban and rural differences and connections.  Speaking locations include the Lake County and Crown Point Community Libraries and LaPorte County Library.  Union electrician Roman Bronson with the "Indiana Plan" talks about next Wednesday's free Construction Trade Seminar in Gary, to encourage interested residents in car

Today:   Scott Pelath with the Kankakee River Basin Commission talks about the history of the Kankakee and Yellow Rivers in northwest Indiana, including the flooding issues that climaxed in a bill that is now law that will re-make the multi-county government organization tasked with overseeing the rivers.  A new commission, smaller in the number of members, will review a proposed long-range plan and will be able to assess property owners along the rivers in eight counties, to pay for studies and to obtain federal funds for flood control projects.

Today:   Valerie Thorn, the executive director of the RecoveryWorks treatment facility in Merrillville, talks about the latest concerns that law enforcement, addiction treatment centers and the public face in the battle against opioids -- "gray death."  It's a deadly concoction of gravel-like heroin that was first reported in Southern states and is spreading across the country.
