Susan Shumsky

UNDATED - Susan Shumsky, Author of Maharishi & Me: Seeking Enlightenment with the Beatles Guru," spent has 22 years in the ashrams of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.  She has written 17 books and has spent more than 50 years teaching thousands of people meditation, prayer, affirmation and intuition.  In this interview, Shumsky discusses how Maharishi influenced the music of the Beatles with Lakeshore Public Radio Reporter/Show Host Sharon Jackson.

Dr. Gina Bartucci talks about mindfulness with Lakeshore Public Radio's Sarah Opat. Bartucci is a clinical psychologist in Chicago who implements mindfulness and meditation programs in groups. The simple act of using mindfulness allows our brains to live our lives more fully.

Today:  A conversation with Indiana economist, writer and speaker Morton Marcus about U.S. Census data that shows that communities in north Lake County are growing smaller and communities in south Lake County and in Porter County (including lakefront cities like Portage) are growing... and the reasons for the change.   

Marcus also talks about what he discussed at a recent public meeting in Crown Point, and he takes a look at the latest Statehouse debate about how to pay for funding road and bridge projects.  Morton says lawmakers are missing the point about it.
