CHICAGO (AP) — Sen. Amy Klobuchar says she and other top female presidential candidates wouldn't be on the debate stage if they had the same experience as Mayor Pete Buttigieg (BOO'-tuh-juhj).

The Minnesota Democrat said Sunday on CNN that she believes the 37-year-old mayor of South Bend, Indiana, is qualified but that she's the better candidate.

Klobuchar says, "I'm the one from the Midwest that has actually won in a statewide race over and over again." She says of the female candidates: "Maybe we're held to a different standard."

Indiana’s governor will appoint the next leader of the state department of education in 2021, and that’s prompted lawmakers to consider merging three key state education groups to better align education policymaking and oversight power in the state.

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (AP) — A northwestern Indiana family is celebrating their dog's return, nearly six months after the beloved pet was stolen from their yard.

Josephine Lopez filed a police report but had little hope of seeing Zino, a Maltese mix, after the dog was taken from her East Chicago yard in February. But The Times reports that Zino was recently found on the streets of St. Cloud, Minnesota, some 500 miles away.

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (AP) — A fugitive from Minnesota who taunted authorities on social media, vowing that she'd "never be caught," has been arrested in northern Indiana.

Thirty-one-year-old Tiesha Monique Moore was apprehended Monday by members of the Twin Cities Apprehension Team in Michigan City. She was wanted on 16 outstanding warrants, including felony theft and domestic assault, all from Minnesota's Stearns and Benton counties.

She's being held in Indiana, awaiting extradition to Minnesota.
