The Indiana Department of Workforce Development will reopen a federal program on Jan. 22 that extends unemployment benefits. Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) is for workers who have used up the state’s 26 weeks of unemployment insurance. The program expired at the end of last year, but was revived by Congress.

Over the holidays, the federal government signed a law that would increase unemployment benefits to out-of-work Hoosiers. But Indiana has not yet announced when it will begin sending out an additional $300 in unemployment benefits.

Extended Unemployment Benefits Set To End This Week

A program to extend unemployment benefits for workers who have used up other forms of benefits is ending this week, although data from the U.S. Department of Labor shows around 3,000 Hoosiers are currently using the program.
