Today:    An in-studio update from Steve Beekman, the CEO of the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, on its multi-goal campaign to fight hunger in the Region through its new facility in Merrillville and its programs to better service the food pantries and support programs that it services.  The Food Bank moved from Gary to Merrillville just a few months ago.  You'll be surprised to hear how it's grown in that short amount of time.

Today:   an extended coversation with Speros Batistatos of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, who attended a briefing on the feasibility study for a new convention center in Lake County.  The consultant hired by the Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission, at the request of county government, met with Batistatos and several local officials before the study was officially released this week.  He talks about potential sites, potential ways to pay for it, and the local cooperation that will be needed to make it a successful project.

Star Plaza Theatre

Speros Batistatos, President and CEO of the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority, came on "Regionally Speaking" on Tuesday to offer his thoughts on the final closing and demolition next year of the Star Plaza Theatre. 

The theatre's owner, Merrillville-based White Lodging, announced last week that the facility as well as the Twin Towers office complex on the site at U.S. 30 and I-65 would be torn down to make way for future development.  Speros was with us when the initial announcement was made last year for closing and demolition -- a decision that was later delayed.
