Today:    Valparaiso attorney Jim Harper is running on the Democratic Party ticket for Indiana Secretary of State.  He is making a multi-day-long media tour around the Hoosier State these days, and he talked with us while on the road about his concerns about the need for a general election that is free from outside interference, and other planks of his campaign.

The Indiana Democratic candidates for statewide office share a common theme: it’s time for an end to one-party rule in Hoosier state government.

Democratic delegates met in Indianapolis Saturday for their biannual party convention.

Each member of the Democratic statewide ticket emphasized the need to eliminate Republican control at the Statehouse. Or, as Treasurer candidate John Aguilera put it:

Democrat Harper Announces Bid For Secretary Of State

Indiana Democrats have their first declared candidate for Secretary of State.

Valparaiso attorney Jim Harper announced Wednesday his bid to unseat incumbent Republican Connie Lawson this fall.

In his announcement video, Harper says he wants to promote small businesses, help protect investors against fraud, and advocate for election reforms.

“Like expanded early voting, same-day registration, and an end to political gerrymandering,” he says.
