Regionally Speaking, Tuesday, April 17, 2018

Montana Public Media

Today:   Porter County Sheriff David Reynolds joins us to talk about a special program coming up on April 30th at Ivy Tech Community College in Valparaiso, where two nationally-known speakers will talk very candidly about the dangers of bullying and violent video games, as they relate to the ongoing issue of school shootings.  The Porter County Safe Schools Commission is working with the Sheriff's Department on this program.

We bring you another conversation from the Welcome Project at Valparaiso University.  The Welcome Project collects first-person stories and pairs these with intentional conversations to help forge stronger ties within and across our communities.  More conversations can be found at -- welcomeproject.valpo.edu.

Lakeshore Public Radio's Sharon Jackson talked with Robert Tabern of the American Passenger Rail Heritage Foundation about the next series of docent-guided historical train rides on the South Shore Line.  And we bring back our conversation with Steve Coxhead of the Indiana Passenger Rail Alliance about the state of the Amtrak "Hoosier State" and "Cardinal" passenger services across Indiana and points East.

Chris Nolte produces and hosts “Regionally Speaking” aired weekdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. He's also the temporary local "Morning Edition" host.
