Gloria Tuohy

Ms. Tuohy's career has includes professional dance, teaching and artistic direction in England, Europe and the United States. In 1979 she founded the Imperial Dance Studios, which became Indiana Ballet Theatre NW, Inc. in 1991. She has earned dance educator accreditations through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance as well as the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters. In addition to several appearances in ballet roles in London, Ms. Tuohy has served as also served as choreographer and costume designer for numerous professional ballet productions in Chicago and Northwest Indiana, including nine full length original ballets. Besides annually mounting twenty local dance performances, Ms. Tuohy is active in a variety of community outreach programs involving Safe Harbor Boys and Girls Clubs. In addition to her participation with the LPM-CAB, Ms. Tuohy is a member of the Crown Point, Merrillville and Hobart Chambers of Commerce; South Shore Arts; the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation; and Dance Leadership Northwest Indiana.
