Tom Maloney

Vice President of Radio Operations

As Vice President of Radio Operations, Tom is responsible for overseeing Lakeshore Public Radio. He oversees the radio station’s programming, as well as news. He was instrumental in bringing several different genres of music to Lakeshore Public Radio. He also maintains Lakeshore Public Media’s many social media pages, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Prior to his working at Lakeshore Public Media, Tom worked at Meyer Broadcasting, in Crown Point, where he was a play-by-play announcer for local high school sports as well as the Program Director. 

He graduated from Boone Groove High School (Valparaiso, IN) and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications from Ball State University (Muncie, IN). He earned his Master of Arts in Communications from Purdue Northwest (Hammond, IN).

When he’s not programming or running around the office, he is often on his rower or playing one of his many guitars.

He resides in Crown Point, with his wife Alexandria, and their cat, Ellie (who loves public radio).

This list, grouped by state, allows users to find out if local funeral establishments have been found by the Federal Trade Commission to have violated rules requiring them to disclosed prices to consumers. The list is part of a larger database obtained by NPR under the federal Freedom of Information Act. The larger database also contains complaints about death care businesses on file with the FTC from July 2010 to July 2016. They were filed mostly by loved ones of the deceased, and many of the complaints originated with local Better Business Bureaus.

On January 27, President Trump issued an executive order temporarily barring travel from seven Muslim-majority countries. The move, described as "protecting the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the United States," sparked protests around the country from refugee advocates and others as people with previously valid visas were detained at airports. NPR reporters have annotated the full text of the executive order with additional analysis and reporting, highlighting key passages that have been debated and clarified since the order was issued.
