Demonstrations are flaring up across the country to protest the deaths of Black Americans at the hands of police. They’re also calling attention to broader inequalities. Over the weekend, hundreds of demonstrators across Indiana joined national protests against police violence. Most of the protesters were largely peaceful. Police clashed with crowds in response to thrown objects and vandalism by firing tear gas, pepper spray pellets and flares.
Crown Point, IN - About 100 protestors gathered in Crown Point, Monday afternoon, to protest the death of George Floyd. Floyd was the Minneapolis, MN man who was killed after now former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly 9 mintues. Floyd cried out "I cannot breathe," while Chauvin knelt on his neck.
