Today:  Northwest Indiana state Senator Karen Tallian (D) is in the studio to talk about her recent trip to Winnipeg, Manitoba to participate in the annual Midwestern Legislative Conference of both U.S. and Canadian lawmakers.  The group discusses key topics on both sides of the border -- including trade and NAFTA.  Karen also talks about her meeting with Canada's national minister for natural resources, on what Canada's been doing to research and promote the industrial hemp economy.

Today:    Valparaiso attorney Jim Harper is running on the Democratic Party ticket for Indiana Secretary of State.  He is making a multi-day-long media tour around the Hoosier State these days, and he talked with us while on the road about his concerns about the need for a general election that is free from outside interference, and other planks of his campaign.

Today:   The Center for American Progress just completed a study of voter turnout, based on individual states' efforts in 2016 and projected the opportunities for more people to get to the polls in this mid-term election -- and beyond.  Danielle Root of the CAP joins us to talk about the report, and how thousands more Hoosiers could vote, with just a few changes to voter registration, same-day registration and no-excuse absentee voting.
