Today:   Indiana Public Broadcasting's Brandon Smith has an update on the issues surrounding vote-by-mail in Indiana.  The Hoosier State is one of only four states without expanded vote-by-mail for the general election.   Side Effects Public Media reporter Natalie Krebs looks into the issue of data tracking on COVID-19, and how it is being done in some states without help from state of federal health resources.  This is Suicide Prevention Month, and Jesse Brown VA Medical Center's Michelle Langlois talks about the ways to help loved ones and family know warning signs that someone may be in danger of taking ones' life.  And Lakeshore Public Radio's Sharon Jackson talks with Valparaiso city redevelopment director Brandon Dickinson about the old White House Restaurant property.

Today:   We have a conversation with Marc Magill, the medical director of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, about his recent Town Hall Meeting with northwest Indiana veterans, their families and caregivers held at the Adam Benjamin Outpatient Clinic in Crown Point.  Magill says topics like the VA REACH program, an update on the ongoing concerns about veteran suicides and local veterans' concerns about the future of VA health care services came up at the meeting.

Today:   Lorelei Weimer, the executive director of Indiana Dunes Tourism, joins us to talk about the concerted lobbying effort, both locally and in Washington, to get the Indiana  Dunes National Lakeshore elevated to National Park status.  She tells us the latest on that, as well as more about the new video series about the Indiana Dunes State Park and National Lakeshore that is now on the Indiana Dunes Tourism YouTube channel.  The series is entitled "Dunes 101."

Today:   A conversation with Holly Passi, the licensed clinical psychologist at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center  in Chicago, about post traumatic distress disorder (which is now being known sinply as PTS).  Passi wjoins other health care professionals at the facility in helping veterans and their families deal with their trauma. This month is national PTSD Awareness Month.

Today:  The city of Portage's veterans committee holds its first 2018 meeting on Wednesday and, to go along with that, we bring back our conversation with Marc Magill, of the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago.  He is also responsible for the operations at the VA outpatient clinics in Crown Point and other regional communities.  Marc is conducting regularly quarterly "town halls" to learn from veterans their concerns about healthcare.

Today:  Any Northwest Indiana veteran can find out more about programs available to them by attending the monthly meetings of the city of Portage's veterans' committee.  Tom Pappas, the chairman of the committee, came back on "Regionally Speaking" to talk about the next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th.  He was joined later on the phone by Marc Magill, the new director of the Jesse Brown Veterans Administration Medical Center in Chicago.  Magill came to a quarterly town hall meeting for veterans and their families on Monday at the VA Outpatient Clinic in Crown Point.
