Melton To Explore Gubernatorial Run

Sen. Eddie Melton (D-Gary) will announce Tuesday evening he’s exploring a bid for governor.

Melton is the first Democrat to take formal steps towards a 2020 gubernatorial run.

A national early education research group says On My Way Pre-K no longer meets its definition of a state-funded program. The group says the program’s work and education requirements for parents move Indiana in the wrong direction.

More children would qualify for state-funded preschool under a proposal lawmakers on the Senate education committee approved Wednesday.
